After months of planning, preparation, and fervent prayer, we are officially in Wyoming. We have moved into our apartment, started unpacking, and have begun the processes setting up residence in Wyoming, including new numbers, new licenses, new banks. There is still a chuck to do to get settled in, but we are hoping to have all of it finished up in the next week or two.
Our favorite part has been getting to meet the people of Outfitter Church and connecting with the people we will be doing ministry with for the next year. We have already attended a wedding, a birthday party, and the weekly worship service and bible study.
This next week we are looking forward to participating in their first Mission Week of the summer with one of Outfitters partnering churches. There is a community movie night, park party, and car wash planned for this coming weekend, along with prayer walking around Bar Nun while looking for opportunities to share the gospel.
We also got to sit down and review the goals and objectives of our apprenticeship with Tyler Martin, the pastor of Outfitter Church and our leader during this apprenticeship. He laid out 7 areas that we will be developing and gave assignments for each area that we must complete over the next twelve months. The areas he laid out for development are Personal and Family Habits, Develop Ministry Plans, Preaching, Administrative, Leadership, Pastoral Training, Evangelism & Church Planting.
The assignments include developing sermons, attending staff meetings, leading mission weeks, book reports, weekly evangelism, visiting church plants and future church planting locations. We have a lot to cover in the next 12 months.
For the next 2.5 weeks Tyler wants us to focus on Personal & Family Habits. We will be setting up a routine that allows for a health work life balance. The number one reason that church plants fail is burn out. Here at the beginning we want to set up for success by establishing our family routine and personal habits in a way that prevents burn out and promotes emotional and spiritual health.
Please be praying for us over the next few weeks as we recover from the move and prepare for our next year of ministry. We look forward to sharing all that God is doing in Wyoming, and we pray that you will be encouraged by the growth of the kingdom and the spread of the good news.
